Xibis develop Interflora's mobile site

16/07/2009

Xibis' successful soft launch of Interflora's mobile site http://m.interflora.co.uk has got endorsement from Ecoconsultancy. The site enables mobile users to complete a full commerce transaction with real-time online card payments to purchasing gifts via their mobile handset. The independent analysis, by Econsultancy, has given the site a positive review stating: "Most importantly, the site has followed best practice for mobiles and kept it simple for users, with a stripped down version of the standard website. Users can choose flowers in just a couple of steps, selecting the occasion they are intended for, then choosing from a limited range before deciding on a delivery date." Xibis are proud to have been acknowledged as leading the way in the UK with mobile transactional commerce following a second mention in the wider review by Econsultancy that suggests that UK retailers are far slower to anticipate the trend of mobile commerce, in comparison to other markets, especially Japan where 25% of retail sales can now come via mobile. The article goes on to state that in the US, large retailers are now establishing dedicated mobile commerce sites to accompany their traditional ecommerce websites, but in the UK, the review could only cite Amazon, eBay and Interflora as offering transactional mobile sites. This together with separate analysis, quoted within New Media Age in recent weeks, stated a quarter of all Europeans now regularly access the internet on their mobile phones and of those figures 35% of iPhone owners and 30% of smartphone owners regularly use their handset to access the internet. The big question you’ll need to ask yourself, as a web enabled business, is “Is my business ready for mobile commerce?” If you want to know more about how Xibis can help your business develop a mobile optimised presence please contact Paul Russell.
